AST SpaceMobile and stc Group Ink $175M, 10-Year Deal to Deliver Space-Based Mobile Connectivity Across Saudi Arabia and MENA

AST SpaceMobile, the developer of the world’s first space-based cellular broadband network accessible directly by standard smartphones, has signed a 10-year, $175 million agreement with stc Group, Saudi Arabia’s leading digital enabler, to extend mobile coverage across the Kingdom and key MENA markets.

The partnership will integrate AST SpaceMobile’s satellite-powered broadband with stc’s terrestrial infrastructure, enabling direct-to-device 4G and 5G connectivity for consumers, enterprises, and government users—without the need for specialized devices or apps. The initiative aims to eliminate connectivity gaps and bring high-speed, reliable coverage to remote and underserved regions.

As part of the deal, stc has made a $175 million prepayment for future services and committed to long-term commercial revenue. AST SpaceMobile will establish three ground gateways and a Network Operations Center (NOC) in Riyadh to ensure seamless regional operations and service quality.

The collaboration represents AST SpaceMobile’s first regional agreement and a milestone for Saudi Arabia’s leadership in next-generation digital infrastructure. It aligns with stc’s vision to advance universal broadband access, foster digital inclusion, and contribute to socio-economic development through cutting-edge satellite communications.

AST SpaceMobile CEO Abel Avellan described the partnership as a “paradigm shift in global connectivity,” while stc CEO Olayan Alwetaid emphasized that it supports the group’s mission to deliver world-class digital access “to everyone, no matter where they are.”

Commercial services are expected to launch in Q4 2026, pending regulatory approvals from Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) and other regional authorities.
