Kuwait highlighted its growing influence in digital transformation, youth empowerment, and national innovation at the second Arab Technology Forum (Meet ArabTech), held alongside the Web Summit in Lisbon. Ambassador Hamad Al-Hazim emphasized Kuwait’s active role in shaping global technology dialogue and strengthening Arab-European cooperation.
Kuwait’s participation reflects its long-standing commitment to innovation and its strategy to develop a new generation of talent in advanced fields such as AI, cloud computing, and the digital economy. The envoy noted that ArabTech provides a strong platform for partnership between Arab and European private sectors, while showcasing the potential of Arab countries—particularly Kuwait—to play a leading role in global tech development.
The Embassy worked closely with Kuwaiti startups, entrepreneurs, and private sector representatives, encouraging collaboration and investment opportunities with European counterparts. Preparations are already underway for next year’s edition, which will feature expanded Kuwaiti participation and a dedicated session on digital technology and AI.
Kuwait plans to present its digital transformation achievements, including the “Sahel” e-government app, which streamlines public services via smartphone. Ambassador Al-Hazim also highlighted growing digital cooperation with Portugal, citing shared goals in innovation and knowledge-economy advancement.
Representing the Kuwaiti private sector, former Minister Dawood Marafi stated that Kuwait is emerging as a regional platform for developing and exporting AI solutions. He credited the country’s strategic location, modern infrastructure, forward-thinking legislation, and digitally skilled youth—supported by national upskilling programs in partnership with global tech leaders such as Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Boeing. These efforts align with Kuwait Vision 2035 and broader Gulf ambitions to build indigenous digital capabilities.
The Arab Technology Forum, held annually during the Web Summit, gathers officials, innovators, investors, and experts to explore global tech trends and future collaboration opportunities.
