Viettel, Vietnam’s largest telecommunications and technology group, has signed an MoU with UAE-based EDGE—one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence companies—marking a significant step in Vietnam’s ambitions to expand high-tech manufacturing and dual-use innovation. The agreement was signed at the Dubai Airshow 2025 by Viettel Vice President Major General Nguyen Dinh Chien and EDGE President – Commercial Omar Al Zaabi.
Under the partnership, Viettel and EDGE will collaborate across a wide range of advanced technologies, including 5G telecom infrastructure, ICT services, semiconductors, AI-powered cameras, IoT devices, cybersecurity solutions, logistics systems and e-commerce platforms. The two sides will also explore establishing an OEM manufacturing model in Vietnam to produce components, modules and assemblies for EDGE’s global product portfolio, targeting both UAE demand and international markets.
The MoU additionally covers technology transfer, technical training and joint R&D initiatives aligned with market needs. All projects will be carried out with approval from relevant authorities and in compliance with national laws and international regulations.
The partnership represents a strategic milestone for Viettel as it expands the export of high-tech “Make in Vietnam” solutions and strengthens its capabilities in defence and dual-use technologies.
