Egypt’s Digitopia Finalists Compete for Over EGP 10m as ICT Minister Prepares to Announce Winners

Egypt will host the final round of its national digital innovation competition, Digitopia, on 28–29 November, with 72 teams set to compete for prizes exceeding EGP 10m, according to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The finals will take place at the Egypt Digital Innovation Centre in Giza, where Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat will announce the winners during Saturday’s closing ceremony. The top prize is valued at EGP 1m.

Launched this year as the country’s largest digital innovation contest, the programme attracted more than 25,000 participants who formed around 6,500 teams nationwide. The final stage features three tracks—software and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital arts and gaming—spanning multiple age categories, including “Impact Explorer”, “Impact Maker”, “Impact Innovator” and “Impact Leader”.

Ahead of the finals, over 700 teams spent three weeks transforming their concepts into full digital prototypes, supported by expert-led workshops. Participation covered all Egyptian governorates, with competitors ranging from school students and university teams to recent graduates and start-ups. More than 90 digital technology and innovation specialists are serving as judges.

The competition is organised under the supervision of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the National Telecommunications Institute, the Information Technology Institute and Egypt University of Informatics. Partners include the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Huawei Egypt, Cisco Egypt, Telecom Egypt (WE), Vodafone Egypt, Orange Egypt, and others.
