Morocco’s cybersecurity industry has grown to an estimated $1.2 billion, driven by rising demand for Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Security Operations Center (SOC) services, according to new findings from Ken Research. The expansion reflects a sharp increase in cyber threats, government-led security reforms, and rapid digitalization across the public and private sectors.
Casablanca, Rabat and Tangier account for the bulk of national cybersecurity spending. Casablanca leads due to its concentration of banks, multinational companies and tech-reliant enterprises that prioritize advanced protection against data breaches. Rabat’s demand stems from government institutions handling sensitive national data, while Tangier’s industrial, manufacturing and logistics zones are investing heavily to secure operational networks.
Government efforts remain central to market growth. Since 2023, Morocco has rolled out a National Cybersecurity Strategy, established a national cybersecurity agency, and allocated $100 million to strengthen digital defenses. The strategy emphasizes public-private partnerships to safeguard critical infrastructure and improve national cyber resilience.
Demand is rapidly shifting toward MDR services as organizations reduce reliance on fully in-house security teams. Businesses are turning to external providers for 24/7 threat monitoring, accelerated incident response and compliance support. Other fast-growing service areas include threat intelligence, vulnerability management, incident response and broader governance and compliance tools.
Government agencies currently dominate cybersecurity spending, followed by banks, telecom operators, healthcare systems, retail chains and manufacturers. Public institutions in particular are facing increased cyber intrusions, prompting major investments to protect national information systems.
Morocco’s market includes major global and regional players such as Orange CyberDefense, Atos, IBM Security, Cisco, Fortinet, Check Point, Trend Micro, Palo Alto Networks, Kaspersky, McAfee, Sophos and CrowdStrike.
Despite strong momentum, the sector faces shortages in talent and affordability challenges. Morocco has roughly 6,000 certified cybersecurity professionals, only half the number currently required. MDR and SOC deployments are also costly—ranging from $25,000 to $120,000—posing barriers for small and medium-sized businesses.
The report concludes that market growth will continue as digital transformation accelerates across industries. Organizations increasingly view cybersecurity as a fundamental operational priority rather than an optional expense.
