Morocco Signs Agreement to Build National School of Advanced Technologies in Dakhla

Morocco has signed a partnership agreement to construct and equip the National School of Advanced Technologies in Dakhla, reinforcing national efforts to accelerate development in the country’s southern regions through expanded higher education, scientific research, and innovation.

The agreement supports the Royal vision for strengthening economic and social progress in the southern provinces and aims to empower regional institutions to play a larger role in national development.

The partnership was signed by key regional and national leaders, including Azeddine El Midaoui, Ali Khalil, El Khattat Yanja, Nabil Hmina, and Khalid Zouahri.

Valued at MAD 100 million, the project will be co-financed by the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Council, contributing MAD 20 million, while the local development company will oversee technical studies, construction, and project management.

The school will offer programs in advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital systems, training highly skilled professionals to meet regional and national labor-market needs. It seeks to elevate Dakhla’s academic standing, boost research and innovation, and expand engineering programs in the region.

The project is part of broader national efforts to promote spatial justice, strengthen education infrastructure in the south, and support local economic development. It follows recent initiatives such as the establishment of the ENCG in Dakhla and a medical school in Laayoune, aimed at providing greater educational and career opportunities for young people without requiring relocation.
