Saudi Arabia has secured third place worldwide in the development of advanced artificial intelligence models and in the growth rate of AI-related jobs, according to the latest Stanford AI Index. The Kingdom now stands among the top 10 global leaders in AI, reflecting the rapid evolution of its digital and innovation landscape.
The report highlights that Saudi Arabia ranks second globally in language model progress, trailing only the US and China, and closely follows India and Brazil in AI job growth. This progress is credited to the proactive efforts of the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence, aligned with Vision 2030, which aims to position the Kingdom as a leading digital economy.
Saudi Arabia’s innovation ecosystem continues to strengthen, demonstrated by its ability to produce advanced AI systems such as ALLaM, a leading Arabic-language generative AI model, and by its expanding AI workforce. The country also placed seventh globally in attracting AI talent, supported by a favorable regulatory and technological environment.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia achieved eighth place globally in public awareness of AI and in scientific citations — a direct result of national investments in research, education, and community capacity-building. Programs such as the SAMAI initiative, which aims to train one million Saudis in artificial intelligence, have played a key role in enhancing public engagement and technical literacy.
These rankings underscore the Kingdom’s emergence as a global reference point for AI research, talent development, and technological progress, paving the way for a robust digital renaissance that supports national economic growth and elevates Saudi Arabia’s international standing.
