UAE and Kuwait Strengthen Space Cooperation with New Strategic MoU

The UAE and Kuwait have deepened their collaboration in space science and technology through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). The agreement was formalised during an official MBRSC visit to Kuwait, where His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Prime Minister, met with MBRSC Director General H.E. Salem Humaid AlMarri and his delegation at Bayan Palace.

Discussions centred on expanding joint space research, enhancing technical and scientific knowledge exchange, and identifying new collaborative programmes that could drive innovation across both nations. Senior officials from both sides attended the meeting, reflecting the strategic significance of this growing partnership.

The MoU establishes a broad framework for cooperation in space exploration, remote sensing, satellite development, applied research, and talent development. It also supports specialised training programmes for researchers, engineers and students, strengthening human capital pipelines across the region.

MBRSC noted that the collaboration goes beyond formal agreement-signing—it represents a practical and long-term roadmap toward building an integrated Arab space ecosystem grounded in knowledge exchange, capacity development and sustainable scientific progress. The Centre highlighted its commitment to supporting Kuwait’s ambitions to develop a strong national research base capable of contributing to regional space missions.

KFAS stated that the partnership aligns with Kuwait’s broader efforts in space science, including the creation of the Kuwait National Centre for Space Research, developed with Amiri support and in cooperation with Kuwait University. The Centre is envisioned as a national platform to coordinate space initiatives, expand research capabilities and nurture the next generation of Kuwaiti talent.

Through this MoU, both nations aim to advance Arab leadership in space technology, strengthen regional innovation systems and foster a knowledge-based economy that elevates the region’s presence within the global space sector.
