Algeria has advanced its national digital and infrastructure priorities following a high-level government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb. The session reviewed several strategic files, including the country’s e-commerce development roadmap, satellite communication initiatives, and major infrastructure projects across multiple provinces.
The cabinet examined the national e-commerce development strategy, which aims to modernize Algeria’s commercial ecosystem, boost economic competitiveness, and expand financial inclusion. Officials emphasized the role of digital trade in accelerating formalization, strengthening consumer protections, and enabling wider SME participation in the online economy.
The government also assessed the benefits of satellite-based electronic communication services, positioned to reduce connectivity costs and expand high-speed internet access to rural and remote communities. These services will complement existing national infrastructure and support Algeria’s broader digital-transformation agenda.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed progress on key national infrastructure projects, including:
- Railway development programmes
- Construction of a major sports complex in Constantine
- Boukhroufa Dam in El Tarf
- Ighil Amda–Mahouan water transfer project connecting Béjaïa and Sétif
These projects form part of Algeria’s effort to strengthen mobility, water security, and regional development while aligning with national economic-diversification objectives.
