Orange Jordan has announced the winners of its “Digital Solutions in the Tourism Sector Hackathon for Persons with Disabilities,” held under the patronage of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Emad Hijazeen. The event coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and forms part of the company’s ongoing “Differently Abled, Definitely Enabled” initiative, which aims to advance digital inclusion across the Kingdom.
The hackathon attracted strong interest, with 115 university students submitting ideas focused on improving accessibility and tourism participation for persons with disabilities. Seven shortlisted teams advanced to an intensive training camp led by experts from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, a technology specialist, and Orange Jordan mentors who provided hands-on coaching through the Fabrication Lab and Coding Academy at the Orange Digital Center.
Participants received training in disability inclusion, assistive technologies, accessible tourism opportunities in Jordan, and pitching skills — all designed to help them build impactful, user-focused digital solutions.
Dr. Hijazeen highlighted the strategic importance of inclusive digital innovation, noting that enhancing tourism services to meet the needs of all segments of society is vital to competitiveness and sustainable sector development. Orange Jordan CEO Eng. Philippe Mansour reinforced the company’s commitment to accessibility through its comprehensive Accessibility Program, emphasising that inclusive tourism is central to enabling equal participation and celebrating Jordan’s heritage and culture.
At the closing ceremony, Orange Jordan recognised three winning teams: Through Everyone’s Eyes (first place), Jordan 360 (second place), and Heritage That Can Be Touched, Heard, and Seen (third place). Their solutions demonstrated exceptional creativity and a deep understanding of the needs of persons with disabilities.
