EDOTCO Bangladesh has signed a memorandum of understanding with Telephone Shilpa Sangstha Limited (TSSL), a state-owned enterprise under the Posts and Telecommunications Division, to advance sustainability and local technical expertise in Bangladesh’s telecom sector. The partnership will establish a Battery Repair and Refurbishment Centre at TSS facilities to extend the life of lithium-ion batteries, reduce electronic waste, and strengthen domestic capabilities in power management systems.
The MoU was signed in Dhaka by Sunil Issac, Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Bangladesh, and Dr Manwar Hossein Malla, Managing Director of TSS, in the presence of senior government officials. Under the collaboration, EDOTCO will provide technical expertise, diagnostic frameworks, and specialised training, while TSS will contribute infrastructure, utilities, and workforce to support operations and quality control.
Government representatives highlighted the initiative as a major step toward improving network reliability, reducing dependence on imports, and building a skilled local workforce. The partnership is also expected to open the door for future developments such as battery assembly, smart poles, and IoT solutions, further supporting Bangladesh’s digital transformation and sustainable infrastructure ambitions.
This partnership marks a strategic move toward building a greener, more self-reliant telecom support ecosystem by combining global technical expertise with local industrial capacity.
