EDOTCO and BDRCS Partner to Strengthen National Disaster Preparedness

EDOTCO Bangladesh, a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to reinforce disaster preparedness and enhance emergency response capabilities across climate-vulnerable regions. The MoU was formalised at BDRCS headquarters in Dhaka in the presence of EDOTCO Bangladesh Managing Director Sunil Issac and BDRCS Chairman Major General (Retd) Professor Md Azizul Islam.

Through this collaboration, both organisations will work to improve early warning dissemination, ensure preparedness at key sites, and accelerate the restoration of critical communication services during emergencies. The partnership aims to enable faster, safer and more coordinated disaster responses nationwide.

The initiative will also support climate-affected communities by deploying solar-powered communication systems, strengthening safe-shelter infrastructure and advancing targeted community development programmes. During emergencies, BDRCS will lead humanitarian outreach while EDOTCO ensures network continuity and stable power supply at essential operational points.

To further bolster national readiness, the two organisations will conduct joint simulation drills, volunteer training and field exercises, establishing a more unified crisis-response framework. Sunil Issac emphasised that by combining EDOTCO’s technical capacity with BDRCS’s humanitarian expertise, the partnership will help deliver timely warnings, safeguard evacuation routes and restore vital communication systems quickly — contributing to a safer and more resilient Bangladesh.
