Vodafone Qatar Highlights AI’s Expanding Role in Cybersecurity During Lecture at Barzan University College

Vodafone Qatar’s Chief Technology Officer, Ramy Boctor, delivered an expert lecture to postgraduate students at Barzan University College, focusing on how artificial intelligence is reshaping cybersecurity and telecom network resilience. The session, part of the college’s MA Cyber Security programme, was held at its C-Ring Road campus.

Boctor outlined the rising complexity of safeguarding national digital infrastructure as technologies such as 5G, IoT, and cloud computing rapidly scale. He identified emerging AI-driven threats—including deepfake-enabled social engineering, automated malware, and large-scale ransomware—as major challenges transforming today’s cyber risk environment.

The lecture also explored how telecom operators are strengthening defences through machine learning–based threat detection, predictive analytics, and automated incident response systems designed to improve operational resilience.

Boctor emphasized the importance of academic collaboration, noting: “AI is redefining both the scope of cyber risk and the tools we use to protect national networks. Working with institutions like Barzan University College is essential to preparing the next generation of cybersecurity experts. Vodafone Qatar is committed to advancing national capabilities through knowledge-sharing and hands-on industry engagement.”

Vodafone Qatar continues to champion initiatives that deepen industry–academia partnerships and support the country’s broader digital transformation, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030
