Yango Ride Introduces Enhanced In-App Safety Features for Users in Nepal

Kathmandu: Yango Ride, part of global technology company Yango Group, has launched an upgraded safety flow within its ride-hailing app in Nepal, aimed at improving transparency and passenger confidence throughout the journey. The update introduces personalised safety checklists and a new safety centre that provides guidance before and during trips. The rollout will be gradually extended to all users.

The new safety centre allows passengers to view a checklist of required safety-related actions, such as completing onboarding steps, adding trusted contacts, verifying personal details, and uploading a selfie where required. The app highlights any incomplete steps and prompts users to take action, helping ensure readiness before a ride begins. Passengers can also access information about driver standards, emergency assistance, and individual safety features, with quick-access buttons for SOS alerts and customer support available on the main screen.

During trips, the safety centre displays the real-time status of safety checks in place. These include driver identity verification through licence and selfie validation, GPS-based speed monitoring against legal limits, and driving behaviour analysis using smartphone sensors to detect sudden acceleration, harsh braking, or unsafe manoeuvres. Drivers receive warnings for unsafe behaviour, and repeated violations may result in restricted access to the platform.

Yango Ride said safety remains a core priority, supported by more than 30 features designed to protect passengers and partner drivers before, during, and after each trip. These include route sharing with trusted contacts, emergency SOS access, and continuous monitoring systems. Yango Group operates across more than 30 countries, delivering locally adapted digital services spanning mobility, delivery, foodtech, and entertainment.
