Oman’s Business Leaders Gather to Shape the Future of Tech Investment and Digital Transformation

Oman’s business and technology leaders convened in Muscat for the second Tech and Telecom CEOs’ Forum, held under the theme “Future Technologies and the Knowledge Economy,” to discuss the future of technology investment and the role of digital innovation in driving economic growth. The forum was organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) under the patronage of Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority.

Speaking at the event, OCCI Chairman Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rowas highlighted the technology sector as a key engine of economic development, noting that the digital economy has become central to diversifying national income and strengthening private sector competitiveness. He stressed that digital transformation, innovation, and artificial intelligence are core pillars of Oman Vision 2040 and critical to creating high-value opportunities and empowering Omani youth.

Al Rowas also emphasized OCCI’s role in supporting the digital economy through its Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Committee, which focuses on enabling businesses, simplifying procedures, and strengthening collaboration between public and private sectors.

Eng. Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al Hosani, OCCI Board Member and Chairman of the Digital Economy and AI Committee, said the technology and telecom sector is fundamental to building a diversified and sustainable economy. He underlined the importance of continuous dialogue between policymakers and industry leaders to turn strategic ambitions into practical initiatives and partnerships. According to Al Hosani, the next phase of growth requires deeper collaboration between large enterprises and SMEs, alongside the adoption of regional and global best practices.

The forum featured expert sessions on artificial intelligence, leadership in the AI era, and evolving economic models, alongside a panel discussion on how technology companies can accelerate digital services and develop innovative solutions. Discussions addressed challenges related to digital adoption and highlighted the role of partnerships, regulation, and infrastructure investment. The event concluded with a CEO leadership session and a startup showcase highlighting emerging technology projects within Oman’s growing innovation ecosystem.
