Lenovo and Enactus Morocco Launch National Gaming Hackathon to Drive Education and Social Innovation

Lenovo and Enactus Morocco have announced the launch of the “Hackathon Gaming for Impact & Education,” a national initiative aimed at reimagining video games as tools for learning and social change. Scheduled for December 26 and 27 in Casablanca, the two-day hackathon will bring together students, developers, designers, and project leaders from across Morocco.

The event is designed to move gaming beyond entertainment by encouraging participants to create interactive solutions that address educational and societal challenges. Teams will collaborate over 48 hours to develop game-based concepts or prototypes focused on themes such as inclusion, environmental awareness, and responsible innovation, supported by workshops and mentorship from professionals in the technology and entrepreneurship ecosystems.

The initiative reflects the growing importance of gaming in Morocco, where the industry is valued at nearly MAD 2 billion and is growing at an annual rate of about 9 percent. With almost one in four Moroccans playing video games regularly—nearly half of them aged between 15 and 24—gaming is increasingly seen as a powerful platform for skills development, creativity, and civic engagement.

For Lenovo, the hackathon aligns with its broader commitment to youth empowerment through technology, highlighting how tools such as artificial intelligence and immersive technologies can support creativity and learning. Enactus Morocco views the initiative as a natural extension of its mission to foster social entrepreneurship among young people, integrating gaming into its ecosystem to unlock new pathways for impact-driven innovation.

As Morocco continues to invest in digital transformation and youth-led initiatives, the hackathon represents a timely effort to harness the country’s growing gaming culture in service of education, innovation, and social good.
