Chinese giant Hoymiles enters Pakistani market to provide high-tech energy storage solutions

Renowned Chinese inverter manufacturer Hoymiles has entered Pakistan to provide high-tech, long-duration energy storage solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings by leveraging solar systems for electricity consumption, according to its local partners.

The move comes as Pakistan emerges as one of the world’s fastest-growing solar markets, driven by rising electricity costs and frequent power outages. Net-metering capacity has reached 6,000 megawatts, while off-grid solar capacity climbed to 12,000 megawatts by the end of 2025, reflecting widespread adoption across households and businesses.

Hoymiles has formed strategic partnerships with Superstar, a well-known Pakistani automotive group, and Harisun Energy, a new entrant in the energy solutions space, to tap into the rapidly expanding local market. Launch events were held simultaneously in Karachi and Lahore, unveiling a range of energy storage solutions produced by Hoymiles under the Harisun Energy and Superstar brands.

Speaking at the Karachi launch, Ali Rashid, advisor to the Sindh chief minister on science and information technology, said the provincial government welcomes foreign investors, particularly Chinese firms, establishing industries, assembly lines, and distribution units in Karachi to serve both domestic demand and export markets. He added that the Sindh government is actively facilitating investment in technology and renewable energy to boost economic activity and improve living standards.

Rashid noted that Sindh is collaborating with Chinese companies across sectors such as logistics and renewable energy, and is exploring the creation of a provincial regulatory authority and transmission company to develop a separate electricity grid powered largely by renewable sources.

According to the International Energy Agency, Pakistan imported nearly 50 gigawatts of solar panels in the first half of the year, making it the third-largest market for Chinese solar panels globally. Falling prices and strong demand across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors have accelerated solarisation nationwide.

Superstar Solar Energy and Harisun Energy are introducing Hoymiles’ portfolio of solar inverters, energy storage systems, and smart energy management solutions designed to deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable power. Harisun Energy CEO Haris Jamsheed said the partnership will address long-hour backup and storage challenges faced by Pakistan’s solar sector, enabling uninterrupted power supply during nighttime hours.

Saleem Umar, Chairman of Superstar, said affordable and reliable energy storage solutions would help reduce operational costs, improve industrial productivity, and enhance the global competitiveness of Pakistani exporters.
