Morocco to Launch Secure National Protocol App to Standardize Care Nationwide

Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection is rolling out a national collaborative information system to centralize, secure, and share official healthcare protocols for prevention, screening, diagnosis, and patient care. The initiative modernizes how medical guidance is created, distributed, and applied, ensuring health professionals can access reliable, up-to-date references wherever they work.

Designed as a nationwide operational tool, the system will serve staff in primary healthcare facilities and specialized services, including programs focused on tuberculosis, HIV, and viral hepatitis. The objective is to guarantee consistent use of official medical references while strengthening coordination across regions.

At the core of the project is a native mobile application paired with an administrative platform. The app enables browsing by program, disease area, and procedure type, with content structured as standardized operating procedures and clinical algorithms for daily use. Fast, multi-criteria search allows clinicians to find guidance without delay. Existing PDF protocols will be converted into interactive digital e-books, overcoming the limitations of static documents that are difficult to update and redistribute.

Beyond reference access, the platform supports collaboration through discussion spaces organized by topic, hierarchy, or geography. These forums allow professionals to exchange insights, share documents, and follow current health program updates.

Security is a central pillar. The ministry emphasizes protocol authenticity, clear audit trails for updates, and strict control over content management. Access will rely on strong authentication, including biometric options alongside standard credentials.

Scheduled for deployment between February and June 2026 and funded through the Global Fund support program, the project includes technical assistance to deliver a turnkey solution covering the mobile app, administration interface, source code, and management tools.
