Thawani Pay and Network International Partner to Expand Digital Payments in Oman

Thawani Technologies LLC (Thawani Pay), Oman’s first non-bank payment service provider licensed by the Central Bank of Oman, has announced a strategic partnership with Network International, the Middle East and Africa’s leading fintech company, to accelerate digital payment innovation and expand credit card capabilities across the Sultanate.

The collaboration builds on Thawani Pay’s rapid growth and innovation momentum, following its recent milestone as the first leading fintech in Oman to officially secure a Visa license to issue credit cards. The achievement marks a national first and reinforces Thawani Pay’s role in shaping next-generation payment experiences in the country.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040’s goals of accelerating digitalisation and fostering economic diversification, the agreement was signed by Eng. Majid Al Amri, Founder and CEO of Thawani Pay, and Navneet Dave, Managing Director and Co-Head of Processing – Middle East at Network International, during a ceremony at Thawani Pay’s headquarters in Muscat.

Under the partnership, Network International will provide comprehensive credit card processing services, enabling Thawani Pay to advance its card roadmap with a scalable, secure, and enterprise-grade processing infrastructure. The move also strengthens Network’s processing footprint in Oman.

By combining Network’s regional processing expertise and robust infrastructure with Thawani Pay’s local market leadership and customer-centric innovation, the partnership is expected to introduce new payment propositions, strengthen financial inclusion, and support Oman’s long-term digital transformation.

Oman’s digital payments market continues to expand, supported by regulatory enablement and growing adoption of cashless services. Card and point-of-sale transactions reached 432.9 million in 2024, with a total value of OMR 6.88 billion, reflecting strong nationwide growth in electronic payments.
