Huawei focuses on talent development to strengthen Nepal’s digital future

Huawei has reaffirmed its commitment to Nepal’s digital transformation by expanding its focus on talent development and digital skills training alongside its long-standing role in building telecommunications and ICT infrastructure across the country.

Over more than two decades, Huawei has supported Nepal’s transition from 2G and 3G networks to 4G services in collaboration with local telecom operators, while also contributing to data centre development, network infrastructure, smartphones and broader ICT solutions. The company has increasingly emphasised human capital development as a key driver of sustainable digital growth.

A central initiative in this effort is Huawei Nepal’s “Seeds for the Future” programme, launched in 2019 as part of the company’s global corporate social responsibility strategy. The programme aims to nurture young ICT talent and promote digital innovation through training, mentorship and international exposure.

Since its launch, 49 Nepali students have participated in international exchange and training programmes in countries including China, Thailand and Singapore, while more than 170 students have received local digital skills training. Globally, the initiative has supported over 19,000 students across more than 140 countries. In 2025, five Nepali students joined the global programme, receiving hands-on training in emerging technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

Huawei’s continued investment in talent development reflects a broader effort to strengthen Nepal’s digital ecosystem by aligning infrastructure growth with workforce readiness, supporting the country’s long-term digital innovation and connectivity goals.
