LONDON, Mon, 09 Feb 2026 — Apple is preparing to release the developer beta of its redesigned voice assistant, internally referred to as ‘Siri 2.0’, as part of the upcoming iOS 26.4 update.
The new update introduces a significantly enhanced version of Siri featuring advanced “smart agent” capabilities designed to handle more complex and contextual tasks. Powered by Apple Foundation Model (AFM) v10, a 1.2 trillion parameter system developed through a partnership with Google, the upgraded assistant is expected to deliver deeper contextual understanding and improved task execution.
Unlike earlier versions, Siri 2.0 can securely access information across a user’s messages, calendar, and photos to perform multi-step actions. This includes tasks such as locating specific documents and sharing them with contacts through third-party applications, reflecting Apple’s broader push toward more proactive and personalized AI-driven assistance.
The iOS 26.4 update will also introduce new emoji alongside the Siri enhancements. Apple plans to release the developer beta by the end of the month, followed by a public beta in March. The full public rollout is currently scheduled for early April.
