KATHMANDU — Marking Safer Internet Day 2026, Ncell Foundation, in collaboration with NAASA Securities, has launched the nationwide Safer Internet Together (SIT) initiative aimed at promoting digital safety, cybersecurity awareness, and responsible technology use among young people in Nepal.
The programme targets more than 50,000 beneficiaries, including students, educators, and community members, through awareness sessions conducted in both government and private schools. The pilot phase covers Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhesh provinces, focusing on students from grades 3 to 12, with plans to expand nationwide in the next fiscal year following successful implementation.
As part of the initiative, a specially developed internet safety handbook will be distributed to participating students, while sessions will focus on cybersecurity, data privacy, and safe digital behaviour. The programme aligns with the global Safer Internet Day theme, “Smart tech, safe choices: exploring the safe and responsible use of AI,” reflecting growing attention to responsible AI use and online safety for younger users.
Ncell Foundation said the initiative supports its broader commitment to building a safe and inclusive digital ecosystem, empowering young people with practical knowledge to navigate online environments confidently and responsibly. The programme also highlights the importance of digital literacy and cyber awareness as essential skills alongside traditional education in an increasingly connected society.
The initiative has already reached more than 7,000 students across nine schools, with further sessions planned as part of its nationwide rollout.
