Manama IX, Bahrain’s first Internet Exchange Point (IXP), has announced new partnerships with Tata Communications and Tencent aimed at strengthening security, improving performance, and expanding global connectivity as demand for resilient digital infrastructure continues to grow across the region.
The partnerships, announced during Capacity Middle East, are designed to enhance the exchange’s interconnection ecosystem while supporting increasing regional data traffic and digital service requirements. Tata Communications has joined as a strategic security partner, enabling the rollout of exchange-level Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection to introduce carrier-grade security across the platform and strengthen resilience against large-scale cyber threats.
At the same time, Tencent’s integration into Manama IX expands the exchange’s global content ecosystem by bringing international content closer to regional networks. The move is expected to improve user experience through reduced latency and enhanced connectivity performance for customers in Bahrain and across the wider Middle East.
