The UAE’s EDGE Group and Spain’s EM&E Group have signed an agreement to explore the establishment of a UAE-based joint venture, supported by a commercial pipeline estimated at approximately $1.5 billion.
The signing took place at EM&E Group’s headquarters in Spain and was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Spain, Saleh Ahmad Salem Alzaraim Alsuwaidi. The agreement was signed by Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, and Fernando Fernández, CEO of EM&E Group.
Under the framework, EM&E Group will provide advanced remote weapon station technologies to the UAE and international markets. The proposed joint venture will also focus on the co-development of additional defence systems, combining European engineering expertise with EDGE’s multi-domain defence platforms across air, land, and maritime sectors.
The new entity is expected to establish a skilled workforce in the UAE across sales, engineering, and programme management functions. The initiative aims to create high-value employment opportunities while strengthening the UAE’s position as a hub for next-generation defence technology development.
Al Marar stated that the partnership enhances EDGE’s capabilities in advanced weapon systems and strengthens its presence in priority markets. Fernández described the alliance as a milestone in EM&E Group’s international expansion, emphasizing the integration of Spanish engineering expertise with the UAE’s defence ecosystem.
The collaboration reflects both companies’ commitment to industrial cooperation, technology development, and expanding access to high-level global defence markets.
