Bangladesh is planning a centralized digital platform to link its certified workforce directly with Japanese employers, aiming to modernize overseas recruitment and enhance labor mobility between the two nations.
The proposed gateway would provide real-time, transparent information for both job seekers and employers, addressing issues like high intermediary costs and fragmented recruitment channels. It would integrate skills certification and Japanese language training under Bangladesh’s Employment Skill Development Programme to ensure workers meet technical and linguistic requirements.
The platform complements existing government-to-government labor frameworks and seeks to reduce recruitment delays, lower costs, and improve transparency for migrant workers—a key source of foreign exchange. Japan’s Ambassador Shinichi Saida welcomed the initiative, noting Bangladesh’s growing pool of skilled workers. Discussions also included broader bilateral cooperation in infrastructure, defense, and international forums.
