Morocco’s Weego secures $1.1M to expand mobility tech across Africa

Weego, a Moroccan-Senegalese mobility startup, has raised $1.1 million in early-stage funding from the Azur Innovation Fund to scale its multimodal transportation platform across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

The funding was announced in Casablanca by founders Saad Jittou and Mor Niane. The startup is developing a platform that integrates multiple transportation services—including shuttle buses, trams, taxis, and private mobility options—into a single digital interface.

The solution aims to simplify commuting in rapidly growing cities by enabling users to plan and track journeys in real time, reducing congestion and improving access to reliable transport services.

According to Adnane Filali, Managing Partner at Azur Innovation Fund, the investment reflects growing interest in digital infrastructure and smart city technologies that can modernise transportation systems without requiring significant physical infrastructure investment.

Weego is also targeting enterprise mobility, helping companies optimise employee transportation to reduce operational costs, lower carbon emissions, and improve travel reliability.

Urban congestion remains a major challenge in many African cities, prompting increased attention from governments and investors toward technology-driven mobility solutions.

Founded in 2020, Weego aims to address these challenges by creating a unified mobility platform that integrates public and private transport networks into a single application.
