Bahrain Strengthens Telecommunications Readiness Amid Regional Developments

Bahrain has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the resilience and preparedness of its telecommunications sector to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of critical services amid evolving regional developments.

His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, highlighted the strategic importance of telecommunications as a pillar of national security and digital infrastructure. He commended telecom operators for continuously upgrading their technical capabilities and supporting emergency response systems across the Kingdom.

The Minister noted that the Ministry is closely overseeing service providers’ readiness, including conducting on-site reviews of operational and precautionary plans to safeguard networks and ensure the continuity of telecom services under all circumstances.

As part of this effort, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa conducted visits to several telecommunications companies in Bahrain to assess their preparedness and operational readiness.

During a visit to Batelco’s branch at City Centre Bahrain, he met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Beyon, along with members of the company’s executive management. Discussions focused on network readiness and the measures in place to maintain uninterrupted telecom services.

The Minister also visited the STC Bahrain branch at the same location, where he met with CEO Khaled Al Osaimi to review the company’s technical and operational preparations aimed at improving network efficiency and service reliability.

At Zain Bahrain’s headquarters in Seef District, he met Managing Director Mohamed Abdullah Zain Al Abideen to discuss ongoing initiatives to enhance network performance and strengthen technical capabilities.

In addition, the Minister toured BNet, Bahrain’s national fibre infrastructure provider, where he met with CEO Ahmed Jaber Al Dosari. The discussions focused on initiatives designed to strengthen digital infrastructure and improve emergency response coordination to ensure the stability and continuity of telecommunications services across the Kingdom.

Telecom sector officials welcomed the Minister’s visits and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining high operational standards and implementing precautionary measures that ensure reliable telecom services under all conditions.
