EV Startup GoSwap Secures Seed Funding to Electrify Morocco

Casablanca, March 25, 2026 — Moroccan startup GoSwap has secured seed funding from Azur Innovation Fund to scale its battery-swapping infrastructure for electric scooters, aiming to accelerate urban mobility transformation across North Africa.

GoSwap’s “battery-as-a-service” model removes key barriers to EV adoption by eliminating upfront battery costs and reducing charging downtime. Users can swap depleted batteries in under 10 seconds, cutting operating costs by up to 60% compared to traditional fuel-powered two-wheelers while also lowering emissions.

The company has already deployed 20 connected battery swap stations across Casablanca, with partnerships spanning major locations such as fuel stations and payment hubs. Operating costs range between MAD 25–29.4 per 100 km, making the solution highly accessible for delivery riders and commuters.

The funding will support expansion across three strategic areas: scaling infrastructure within Casablanca and into other cities like Marrakech, increasing compatibility across multiple electric vehicle models, and enhancing fleet management capabilities for logistics and e-commerce operators.

GoSwap’s approach mirrors successful battery-swapping ecosystems in Asia but adapts the model to local market dynamics, positioning the startup as a pioneer in Morocco’s emerging EV ecosystem.

The investment signals growing momentum in Africa’s clean mobility sector, as startups leverage innovative business models to address cost, infrastructure, and sustainability challenges in urban transport.
