FM, ICT ministers discuss cooperation in digital transformation

Cairo, March 25, 2026 — Egypt’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Communications held discussions to strengthen collaboration on digital transformation and enhance consular services for citizens both domestically and abroad.

The talks focused on expanding digitized consular services, including initiatives such as postal authentication and services delivered عبر the Egypt Digital Platform. Officials emphasized improving efficiency, scalability, and accessibility of these services, particularly for Egyptians living overseas.

Both sides highlighted the importance of raising awareness حول available digital services while continuing to expand authentication services through the National Postal Authority. A pilot program has already enabled expatriates to electronically obtain key documents, with plans to scale additional high-demand services.

The meeting also explored deeper cooperation in digital infrastructure, information systems, and capacity building, with a strong emphasis on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analytics.

In line with these efforts, the ministers confirmed the extension of the customs exemption period for mobile phones brought by expatriates from 90 to 120 days starting April 1, aimed at easing access to services for citizens abroad.

The session concluded with the launch of a commemorative postage stamp marking 200 years of Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, celebrating the country’s diplomatic legacy.
