Pakistan’s Ignite – National Technology Fund will host the Indus Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) Expo 2026 on July 22–23 in Islamabad, bringing together government, academia, industry, startups and investors to accelerate the country’s robotics ecosystem and promote the adoption of autonomous technologies across strategic sectors.
Organized under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), the two-day event at the Pak-China Friendship Centre will showcase Pakistan’s latest advancements in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous systems. The expo is designed to strengthen collaboration between research institutions, technology companies and policymakers while encouraging the commercialization of locally developed innovations.
The event forms part of the government’s broader efforts to position Pakistan as a regional innovation hub for AI, robotics and advanced engineering.
Robotics and AI Drive Industrial Transformation
The Indus RAS Expo will highlight technologies with applications across multiple industries, including:
- Defence robotics
- Drone technologies
- Industrial automation
- Maritime autonomous systems
- Agritech
- Physical AI
- Human-machine collaboration
- AI-powered decision support systems
- Startup-led robotics innovations
The exhibition will feature products, prototypes, research projects and live demonstrations developed by universities, research centres, startups and technology companies, showcasing Pakistan’s growing capabilities in intelligent systems and advanced manufacturing.
Innovation Challenges Foster Local Talent
A key attraction of the event will be the RAS Innovation Challenge and RoboWars Competition, where students, engineers and startups will compete by presenting original robotics and autonomous systems solutions.
Participants will demonstrate innovations before a panel of industry experts, creating opportunities for talent recognition, mentorship and potential commercialization.
The expo will also include high-level panel discussions and an Immersive Experience Dome, offering interactive digital experiences designed to inspire future engineers and entrepreneurs while demonstrating the real-world potential of emerging technologies.
Government Backs AI and Robotics Ecosystem
Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said robotics and autonomous systems are becoming essential drivers of industrial modernization, economic competitiveness and national resilience.
Ignite CEO Muhammad Bilal Abbasi emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia, industry and government, noting that the event is intended to accelerate commercialization of indigenous technologies while providing innovators with a national platform to showcase their work.
The expo builds on the momentum of the Indus AI initiative, launched earlier in 2026, reflecting Pakistan’s long-term strategy to strengthen its AI and robotics ecosystem.
Collaboration Supports Commercialization
Indus RAS Expo 2026 is being organized in collaboration with the National Centre of Robotics & Automation (NCRA) and the NUST College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (E&ME).
The partnership highlights the growing role of academia-industry collaboration in transforming research into commercially viable technologies that can support national development and international competitiveness.
The event is expected to attract policymakers, investors, defence organizations, researchers and entrepreneurs looking to accelerate innovation across Pakistan’s emerging deep-tech sector.
Why This Matters
Robotics and autonomous systems are becoming strategic technologies that underpin advanced manufacturing, defence, agriculture, logistics and smart infrastructure. National innovation platforms help connect research with industry while encouraging commercialization and investment.
For Pakistan, the Indus RAS Expo 2026 reinforces the country’s commitment to building a competitive AI and robotics ecosystem through collaboration between government, academia and industry. For the South Asian technology sector, the event demonstrates the growing importance of robotics, autonomous systems and indigenous innovation in supporting digital transformation and long-term economic competitiveness.
Editor’s Note
Pakistan is increasingly broadening its technology agenda beyond software and digital services to include advanced engineering, robotics and AI-driven automation. The Indus RAS Expo reflects this strategic evolution by creating a platform where research, startups, investors and government agencies can collaborate on commercially viable technologies. As global demand for robotics and autonomous systems accelerates across industries, initiatives that encourage innovation, talent development and technology commercialization will be essential for building a sustainable deep-tech ecosystem. If supported by continued investment and industry collaboration, Pakistan’s growing focus on robotics could strengthen its position in the regional innovation landscape while creating new opportunities for high-value manufacturing and technology exports.
