Oman Hosts Workshop to Boost Foreign Digital Investments in Line with Vision 2040

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), in collaboration with the Riyadh-based Digital Cooperation Organization, the World Economic Forum, and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, hosted a workshop in Muscat on Monday aimed at enhancing policies to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in Oman’s digital economy.

The workshop focused on shaping investment policies to promote foreign investments in emerging technologies and the adoption of digital solutions across the government, private, and academic sectors. Key discussions included the role of foreign investment in developing digital infrastructure and how Omani companies could expand their international presence by increasing exports of digital services. This initiative aligns with Oman’s National Digital Economy Programme and supports the broader objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Mohsen bin Salem al Araimi, Acting Director of the Technology Industry Department at MTCIT, emphasized the importance of continued support from the Digital Cooperation Organization and the World Economic Forum in attracting digital investments. He also noted that enhancing digital investments would create job opportunities, boost the knowledge base, and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Throughout 2024, MTCIT, in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, has been working on initiatives to attract foreign investments. The ministry has also participated in both local and international events to promote emerging technology companies and highlight Oman’s growing digital economy, aiming to secure high-quality digital investments.
