Ufone 4G, the mobile arm of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), announced a partnership with US-based Jubilee General Insurance (JGI) on Tuesday to offer insurance products to its customers.
Under this partnership, JGI will offer two insurance plans to Ufone users, starting with a ‘Personal Accident Insurance’ package. This plan provides coverage for accidental death and permanent disabilities, with lump sum benefit payouts of up to PKR 2,000,000. The second plan, ‘Bill Protector Insurance,’ covers essential bills in the event of accidental death or permanent total disability. Coverage for the Bill Protector plan includes utility bills, housing fees, mobile phone bills, and petrol/diesel expenses. Payouts range from PKR 20,000 per month for up to three months to PKR 70,000 per month for up to 12 months, depending on the duration of coverage.
Ufone 4G customers can sign up for these insurance plans by visiting JGI’s local subscription portal, where they can select their desired plan and enter their Ufone number along with personal details. Once processed, customers will receive a confirmation SMS, and the plan will become effective immediately.
Ufone stated that the Personal Accident Insurance plans start at Rs 2 per day, while the Bill Protector Insurance plans begin at Rs 1 per day, both inclusive of taxes.
Azfar Arshad, COO of JGI, highlighted that premiums can be deducted directly from the user’s mobile phone balance credit, making the insurance plans more accessible and affordable through digital technology.
