At the World Economic Forum’s 55th Annual Meeting in Davos, the Government of the UAE and the World Economic Forum signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Global Regulatory Innovation Platform (GRIP). The platform aims to develop human-centered legislation to adapt to rapid technological and digital advancements.
The partnership was announced in the presence of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. The goal of GRIP is to create a supportive environment for regulatory innovation and international collaboration on flexible governance models, addressing future challenges and opportunities.
The agreement was signed by Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Cabinet, on behalf of the UAE, and Alois Zwinggi, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum. GRIP seeks to develop tools and methodologies to evaluate legislative frameworks’ effectiveness and readiness for the future.
Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the UAE’s forward-thinking approach, which has seen the country modernize over 80% of its national legislation. She stressed that GRIP will build an international network of experts, enhance legislative professionals’ capacity, and establish a global knowledge platform for regulatory innovation.
This initiative further positions the UAE as a global hub for innovation, expertise sharing, and collaboration in shaping flexible and effective legislative frameworks to support sustainable development worldwide.
