The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Bahrain conducted 148 inspection campaigns in 2024, targeting telecommunications device retailers, wireless device vendors, and authorized frequency spectrum users. The TRA reviewed 11,423 import license applications, a 9% increase from the previous year, while violations related to telecommunications device imports dropped significantly.
Violations fell to just four in 2024, compared to 19 in 2023, demonstrating improved awareness of regulations among businesses and individuals. The TRA’s Spectrum Directorate works closely with the Customs Affairs Department to inspect telecommunications devices before and after import to ensure they comply with technical regulations and to optimize frequency spectrum use.
This proactive approach prevents harmful interference and highlights the importance of securing necessary licenses before importing wireless devices. By ensuring compliance with Bahrain’s technical regulations, the TRA helps prevent potential issues for businesses, individuals, and government entities.
