Jordan’s Telecommunications Sector Achieves Key Milestones in 2024

AMMAN — The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) transferred JD175 million to the Treasury in 2024, as reported in the sector’s performance indicators released on Sunday.

The report highlighted that the commission processed 18,715 customs declarations at its external offices throughout the year, according to Petra news agency.

In its regulatory activities, the TRC issued 3,415 type approvals for telecommunications equipment, including both new and renewed certifications. Additionally, 3,000 device entry approvals were granted, and 207 exemptions were issued for fifth-generation (5G) infrastructure.

In the postal sector, the number of licensed operators reached 176, including 163 domestic private operators, 12 international private operators, and one public operator.

As of November 2024, Jordan ranked 83rd globally in mobile internet speeds and 34th in fixed internet speeds. The average mobile internet speed stood at 31Mbps, while fixed internet speeds averaged 161Mbps.
