Nepal Telecom (NTC) has announced that it will no longer allow recharges for amounts below Rs 50. The telecom company has set the new minimum recharge amount at Rs 50, meaning customers will not be able to top up their accounts with less than this amount.
Mobile wallet eSewa confirmed this change through a notice, stating that recharges below Rs 50 will no longer be processed. This move aligns with the policy already implemented by Ncell, another service provider in Nepal, which has also set the minimum recharge amount at Rs 50.
NTC has also reported a loss of Rs 1 million in recharge cards, highlighting the financial impact of the new policy. The telecom company’s decision to enforce the Rs 50 minimum recharge amount is expected to streamline operations, though it may affect users who typically recharge with smaller amounts.
