Huawei has signed a cooperation agreement with Telecom Egypt to enhance the country’s ICT infrastructure with cutting-edge 5G solutions. As part of the agreement, Telecom Egypt becomes the first operator in Egypt and Northern Africa to deploy innovative outdoor and indoor solutions, including Huawei’s BladeAAU technology and DIS 5G Solution.
The collaboration aims to prepare Telecom Egypt’s network for the launch of 5G services, ensuring high-quality broadband for users. Huawei’s BladeAAU technology will optimize space for antenna installations on towers, laying the foundation for future 5G advancements. Telecom Egypt will also be implementing the first 5G Digital Indoor System (DIS) in the region, which supports three frequency bands and V-MIMO (Virtual Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology. Initial 5G tests have shown excellent results, with throughput speeds exceeding 300 Mbps.
Telecom Egypt is prioritizing both outdoor and indoor coverage to meet the needs of high-value users, particularly in the realm of 5G traffic capacity. BladeAAU MM 64T technology has been equipped to handle the future capacity requirements of Egypt’s 5G network. Moreover, Digital Indoor Systems (DIS) have been adopted due to their superior capacity and user experience over traditional Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
This partnership aligns with Huawei’s strategy to develop ICT infrastructure in Egypt and support the country’s digital transformation. Telecom Egypt shares the vision of becoming a leading ICT operator by investing in high-quality 4G/5G collaborative networks, aiming to enhance data throughput and improve communication services.
Mohamed Nasr Eldin, CEO of Telecom Egypt, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, emphasizing that Huawei’s expertise would help maintain the company’s leadership position in providing top-tier technological solutions and 5G services. Huawei Egypt’s CEO, Mr. Benjamin Hou, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s ICT growth and economic development with state-of-the-art solutions.
Telecom Egypt’s efforts to introduce high-bandwidth technologies like the TDD 2.6 GHz band with MIMO Technology are geared towards providing users with an ideal network experience, ensuring Egypt’s leadership in the 5G space.
