Telecommunications Authority Cautions Against Fraudulent Payment Messages

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has issued a warning to citizens, advising them not to engage with SMS or electronic messages containing links to websites requesting payment for fees, fines, or any other payments. This includes messages claiming to be from government agencies, banks, telecom companies, or delivery services.

The authority explained that responding to such messages could lead to theft of users’ banking card information, enabling malicious entities to steal funds. It stressed the importance of making payments only through verified and secure channels, such as commercial bank applications and the “eFawateercom” platform.
