Algeria Launches Taqiim Platform to Revolutionize Educational Assessments for Fifth-Grade Students

In a major step toward modernizing education, Algeria’s Ministry of National Education has introduced the Taqiim platform, an electronic system designed to enhance the evaluation of fifth-grade primary school students’ achievements. This new digital tool aims to streamline grading and improve the overall quality of educational assessments.

The Taqiim platform (taqiim.education.dz) marks a paradigm shift in how assessments are conducted in Algeria. By providing standardized evaluations based on specific pedagogical criteria, it helps educators assess students’ competencies in line with the national curriculum. The platform enables teachers to pinpoint areas of difficulty for students and provides an opportunity for timely interventions.

To use the platform, teachers need an active account on the “Foundation Space” site, which acts as the gateway to the Taqiim system. Teachers log in using their username or email and password, along with the CAPTCHA code, to gain access. After logging in, educators select the appropriate educational group and upload an Excel file containing the subjects to be evaluated. Once the grades and evaluations are entered, the modified file is re-uploaded, and the data is saved to ensure accurate records.

The platform is optimized for Google Chrome to ensure a smoother user experience. It allows for detailed tracking of students’ strengths and weaknesses, supporting educators in identifying and addressing learning gaps early on. This approach is key to improving students’ academic outcomes and helping them succeed in future stages of education.

The Taqiim platform also fosters accountability among educators by providing standardized assessments, ensuring fairness and consistency in evaluations. This is vital in an educational environment where students have diverse backgrounds and learning needs.

While the platform simplifies the assessment process, there may be challenges for teachers, such as password recovery and access issues for substitute teachers. In such cases, teachers are advised to contact their institution’s director to obtain the necessary login information.

Overall, the Taqiim platform is an important development in Algeria’s education system, offering a more structured, efficient, and effective way of evaluating student achievements and helping students achieve their full academic potential. As it becomes more integrated, it is expected to significantly impact the future of education in the country.
