Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality Launches 17 New Agricultural Services on ‘Oun’ App as Part of Digital Transformation

Doha, Qatar: In a significant step towards digital transformation, the Ministry of Municipality, in collaboration with the Agricultural Affairs Department, has launched 17 new agricultural services on the ‘Oun’ app. This initiative aims to enhance service efficiency and quality, simplify procedures, and expedite service completion through an integrated digital approach.

The newly introduced services include the issuance of permits for importing fertilisers, agricultural soil enhancers, honeybees, biological enemies, trees, seedlings, and various other agricultural products such as natural wood, plant parts, vegetables, fruits, and green fodder. Additionally, the app facilitates services related to seed and pesticide imports, agricultural consignment inspections, and approvals for palm trees and offshoots.

Other services available include requests for productivity certificates, porta-cabin transfer permits, approval for restricted-use fertilisers, marketing certificates, and approval for agricultural worker recruitment, as well as services for the sale of date palm shoots. These services aim to streamline agricultural procedures and ensure faster, more efficient access for the community.

As part of its ongoing digital transformation efforts, the Ministry of Municipality is offering hundreds of electronic services through both its website and the ‘Oun’ app. The app includes municipal services such as tree pruning, sewage removal, large waste disposal, advertising licenses, and building permits, among others.

The Ministry is working on the development of 400 services under its digital transformation project to provide smart, automated services to the public and beneficiary companies. These services span across agriculture, food security, urban development, general services, and community services.

Launched in 2023, the digital transformation project encompasses the ministry’s website, the Oun app, and smart city solutions, integrating AI and other modern technologies to improve service efficiency. One of the major advantages of the transformation is the ability to share data with other government institutions, minimizing the need for applicants to upload documents repeatedly.

The ongoing project is expected to bring about a significant leap towards smart city solutions by enhancing the technological infrastructure of services, ensuring a more streamlined and effective experience for users.
