The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has successfully trained more than 10,000 professionals in e-procurement systems and regulatory frameworks, marking a key milestone in advancing the government’s Digital Pakistan vision. This achievement was highlighted by PPRA Managing Director Hasnat Ahmed Qureshi during the launch of a new four-month diploma program developed in collaboration with the NUST Professional Development Centre (PDC).
Currently enrolling over 70 participants, the program includes government officials, private sector experts, and suppliers. It aims to build capacity in areas such as legal frameworks, contract management, and public-private partnerships to enhance procurement efficiency and transparency nationwide.
Qureshi emphasized that procurement cells have been established across government institutions, with officials trained on the e-Pak Acquisition and Disposal System (e-PADS) to reinforce transparency in public procurement processes. The widespread adoption of e-procurement has already yielded government cost savings between 10 to 25 percent.
The e-procurement platform boasts over 28,000 registered suppliers—including 400 international companies—and is actively utilized by thousands of federal and provincial agencies. Qureshi urged greater participation in PPRA’s training initiatives and stressed the importance of adopting global best practices in procurement.
The launch event was attended by senior representatives from PPRA, NUST, and procurement specialist Ali Raza Hanjra.
