Algeria Unveils Sovereign Cybersecurity Strategy to Safeguard Digital Infrastructure

Algeria has launched a comprehensive sovereign cybersecurity strategy aimed at protecting the nation’s digital infrastructure, enhancing national security, and securing critical data from escalating cyber threats. This initiative reflects Algeria’s commitment to achieving self-reliance in cybersecurity by reducing dependence on foreign technologies and building robust capabilities to respond to cyber incidents independently.

Key components of the strategy include establishing a National Cybersecurity Framework tailored to Algeria’s specific needs, developing local cybersecurity expertise through education and research investments, and deploying advanced cyber defense infrastructure to monitor and mitigate attacks in real time. The plan also emphasizes strengthening public-private partnerships for coordinated threat responses and fostering international cooperation for intelligence sharing and capacity building.

The Ministry of Post, Telecommunications, Technologies and Digitalization leads the effort, viewing the strategy as a pathway not only to defense but also to positioning Algeria as a regional leader in digital security. This move aligns with the country’s broader digital transformation goals targeting economic growth, government modernization, and social progress.

Recognizing the rapid global evolution of cyber threats, Algeria prioritizes this strategy to safeguard national interests, critical infrastructure, and digital sovereignty.
