Amman — The Ministry of Government Communications hosted a media briefing on Tuesday to present the strategic vision and future plans of Jordan’s Institute of Public Administration (IPA), under the theme “The Institute and Administrative Modernisation: Strategies and Future Plans.”
IPA Director General Siham Khawaldeh emphasized the institute’s pivotal role in advancing Jordan’s national objectives by enhancing public sector human resource performance. She highlighted the IPA’s goal to establish itself as a leading center for innovative, responsive training services tailored to the needs of the public sector.
As one of the oldest institutes of its kind in the Arab region, the IPA has long specialized in capacity building and training for government employees. Khawaldeh explained that recent legal reforms have restructured the institute’s governance framework. The former steering committee has been replaced by a newly formed Board of Trustees, chaired by the Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation or an appointed minister by the Prime Minister. This Board now holds full authority to approve and implement institutional policies.
The IPA has also reorganized its internal structure, creating new directorates and customizing training programs to address real-world sector requirements. Currently, the institute trains approximately 20,000 individuals annually, utilizing a blend of in-person, online, and self-paced learning modalities.
A newly developed digital training platform is currently in its pilot phase and is expected to officially launch next year. This platform aims to increase accessibility for trainees while reducing operational costs, reflecting the institute’s commitment to modernizing public sector education.
