Alipay+, the global wallet gateway of Ant International, and Kazakhstan’s leading super app Kaspi.kz have launched cross-border QR payment acceptance in Kazakhstan. The partnership allows users of 12 Alipay+-enabled payment apps to make purchases via Kaspi QR, which offers the country’s widest merchant coverage, spanning retail, dining, attractions, healthcare, and even rural outlets.
This makes Kazakhstan the first country in Central Asia to accept Alipay+, enabling local merchants to benefit from growing international tourism. In the first half of 2025, the country recorded a historic 7.5 million international visitors, with travellers from China, Germany, and South Korea among the top five source markets.
The initiative builds on the companies’ April 2024 partnership enabling outbound payments from Kazakhstanis to Alipay+ merchants worldwide. Popular destinations include China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia, Italy, and France. Alipay+ connects 1.7 billion user accounts from 36 global partners to over 100 million merchants across 70 markets.
Kaspi.kz CEO Mikhail Lomtadze and Ant International’s Edward Yue said the move enhances travel convenience, strengthens local-global merchant links, and supports sustainable tourism growth by offering seamless payment options for visitors.
