Kuwait Launches 5G Advanced with Huawei and Knetco, Setting New Benchmark for Digital Transformation

In a landmark step toward Kuwait’s Vision 2035, the country has officially launched 5G Advanced technology, also known as 5.5G, ushering in a new era of ultra-fast connectivity and smart infrastructure. The initiative, spearheaded by Huawei and implemented by Knetco—the Ministry of Communications’ official contractor—marks a major milestone in Kuwait’s digital transformation journey.

5G Advanced offers speeds up to ten times faster than standard 5G, ultra-low latency, and massive connectivity capacity. These features enable transformative applications across smart cities, autonomous systems, AI-driven industries, and advanced digital services spanning both public and private sectors.

Knetco, drawing on its three decades of telecom expertise, managed the entire deployment process—from infrastructure readiness to nationwide integration—for all three of Kuwait’s mobile operators. Despite an ambitious timeline, the company delivered every milestone on schedule without compromising on quality, safety, or performance.

“The arrival of 5G Advanced will transform how Kuwait communicates, operates, and innovates. Our partnership with Huawei ensures that this cutting-edge technology delivers lasting benefits to every sector—from government services to individual consumers,” said Khaled Samy Hall, CEO of Knetco.

Huawei praised Knetco’s role, with Jayson Fu, Procurement Director of Huawei Kuwait, highlighting their “proven expertise in telecom infrastructure and ability to deliver mission-critical projects under pressure,” noting that the deployment exceeded international standards.

Beyond enhanced connectivity, 5G Advanced is expected to accelerate innovation in areas such as drone systems, advanced security operations, Li-Fi communication, and smart mobility solutions. The rollout lays the groundwork for a more connected and sustainable Kuwait, while paving the way for future 6G upgrades.
