Tripoli – Libya’s General Authority for Communications and Informatics joined the second meeting of the Arab preparatory team for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26), held in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3 on the sidelines of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-25).
The meeting focused on aligning Arab states’ positions ahead of PP-26, scheduled for November 9–27, 2026, in Doha, Qatar. Discussions covered regional coordination on regulatory matters, development policies, and candidate nominations for ITU leadership roles.
Libya’s delegation emphasized the importance of unified Arab positions to secure effective regional representation within the ITU and ensure collective influence in shaping global telecommunications policy.
The Authority stated that its participation reflects Libya’s growing engagement at both regional and international levels, as it seeks to strengthen the country’s standing in global ICT policymaking and contribute to advancing the digital agenda.
