Morocco Surpasses 40 Million Internet Users as Telecom Sector Expands

By the end of 2024, Morocco recorded 40.2 million internet subscribers, marking a growth of nearly 2 million users compared to 2023, according to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT). Mobile internet continues to dominate the sector, accounting for 93.09% of subscriptions, while fixed internet represents just 6.59%.

ADSL usage highlights slower connectivity trends, with 71.75% of users operating below 8 Mbps. In terms of providers, Wana Corporate and Médi Télécom (Orange) jointly hold 69.24% of the market, while Maroc Telecom controls 30.76%.

Fixed-line subscriptions also grew, reaching 3.037 million in 2024. Maroc Telecom leads this segment with 54.35%, followed by Médi Télécom at 26.13% and Wana Corporate at 19.53%.

Consumer complaints declined to 1,156 in 2024, down 14.24% from 2023. Most complaints (64%) were related to service quality, followed by number portability issues. The average resolution time was 15 days, with ADSL and fixed phone services being the most reported.

Domain name registrations under “.ma” also rose to 123,891, with 93.7% registered under the standard “.ma” extension. Other formats included “co.ma” (3%) and “gov.ma” (0.7%).
