Huawei and 51Talk, a global online English education platform serving more than 40 million learners, have launched a series of back-to-school events across the UAE to highlight the role of digital tools in education. Partnering with local entities, the program has already engaged over 900 students in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Fujairah, with more events planned throughout September.
The initiative aligns with the UAE’s pioneering education reforms, including the rollout of a mandatory AI curriculum from kindergarten to Grade 12 and the integration of smart-learning tools in schools and universities. These efforts emphasize the country’s goal of building a future-ready, digitally empowered education system.
Tablets as Learning and Creative Tools
At the events, students tested Huawei tablets equipped with:
- HUAWEI Notes Resource Centre for organizing study materials.
- PC-level WPS Office suite for group projects and presentations.
- GoPaint digital creation app for creativity and design.
The sessions highlighted how tablets can double as educational companions and entertainment devices, supporting both digital literacy and creativity.
Recognizing the growing demand for student-focused devices, Huawei recently launched the MatePad 11.5 featuring a PaperMatte Display with anti-glare technology and a paper-like finish, designed to ease eye strain, improve pen control, and make digital reading feel closer to print.
Next Steps
Upcoming activities include an educational day with Dubai Municipality on 15 September, and a special finale on 20 September, where one student will be chosen to represent the UAE as a speaker at COP30 in Brazil.
By engaging students and parents directly, Huawei and 51Talk aim to promote collaboration, digital readiness, and lifelong learning, in line with the UAE’s knowledge-driven economic vision.
