UAE Launches $1 Million AI Film Award at 1 Billion Followers Summit 2026

The UAE Government Media Office has announced the world’s largest AI Film Award, valued at $1 million, to be unveiled during the 1 Billion Followers Summit 2026, held in partnership with Google Gemini. The event will take place from 9–11 January 2026 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, bringing together over 400 speakers with a collective following of more than 3 billion.

The award aims to encourage impactful storytelling through AI-generated films, with entries required to be at least 70% AI-generated using Google Gemini’s Imagen, Veo, Flow, or compatible third-party tools. Films must be 7–10 minutes long, in any language with English subtitles, and follow themes of either “Rewrite Tomorrow” or “The Secret Life of”. Submissions close on 20 November 2025, with finalists announced in January.

Saeed Al Eter, Chairman of the UAE Government Media Office, said the award reflects the UAE’s vision to cement its leadership in AI and creative industries, building on its global ranking as third in attracting AI talent. Google MENA’s Anthony Nakache noted that Gemini will give creators of all backgrounds powerful tools to bring their stories to life.

The Summit will also feature a Creator’s Market for 100+ startups, a ventures accelerator investing over AED50 million in creators, and participation from every major social media platform. With over 30,000 attendees expected from 140+ nations, the UAE is positioning itself as a hub for AI-driven creativity and the content creator economy.
