Algeria’s University of Continuing Formation Launches National Week for Digital Education

The University of Continuing Formation (UFC) in Didouche Mourad has launched the National Week for Digital Education, running from September 23 to 30, 2025, under the theme “Digital Education is a Gain for the University of Algeria.” The initiative reflects Algeria’s commitment to advancing digital transformation in higher education.

The opening ceremony brought together senior government officials, academic leaders, researchers, and new students. UFC Director Professor Yahya Jafri highlighted digital transformation as a strategic priority, noting that the university has trained over 800 professors in media and communication technologies, created 683 online lessons (120 in English), and developed 68 digital platforms to enhance student learning.

The event’s first day featured scientific presentations, including a session by Professor Saleh Belaid, chairman of the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, on the council’s digital resources. Other speakers addressed visual distance learning, online documentation systems, and the creation of a national digital library.

Complementing academic discussions, the National Blood Agency launched a university-based donation campaign, while exhibitions showcased contributions from the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, the National Council of University Publications, and UFC’s media platforms.

A major milestone was the signing of a cooperation agreement between UFC and the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language, granting students access to a digital library of over 12,000 books. This partnership aims to enrich academic resources and support digital learning.

By hosting the National Week for Digital Education, UFC reaffirmed its pioneering role in distance learning and digital innovation, underscoring its mission to foster academic excellence while serving society as a citizen-focused university.
